Randall Donald: In case anyone wanted to know

My spare time has been quite limited this month and last. I've had to freelance work on a shopping cart, my alpaca farm website Alpacas of the Coast and keep up with my TV watching ;) I have been working on the Nvidia packages on and off. So far in the next release will be:

* New upstream.
* remove xserver-xorg-core dependency.
* add cuda files (closes: #463776)
* add bzip2 to build-depends. (closes: #466139)
* add uploaders field that went missing: (closes: #454999, #472448)

linux-modules-nonfree-2.6 support will be added too.

Then, hopefully I can catch up with the legacy versions. Anyone who would like to join the packaging team feel free to contact me.

Randall Donald: New Farm Website

In an effort to work on our marketing, I've been working on our alpaca farm website Alpacas of the Coast. It could do with a bit more descriptive content but it is coming along. With a herd of 10 animals with 6 crias coming this spring my wife and I want to put our business into the next gear.

Randall Donald: 32-bit userland with 64-bit amd64 kernel confguration

If anybody is running the amd64 kernel in the i386 port (i.e the 32bit/64bit mix) could you please send me the output of 'uname -a' as well as dpkg-architecture to rdonald@debian.org. I'm working on a detection routine for nvidia-kernel-source to use the correct nv-kernel.o file. Oh and by the way I'm still looking for new packaging team members.

(update: thanks I got what I needed)

Randall Donald: New Camera

I got myself a new camera for Christmas. after much research I decided on the Panasonic FZ18. It's a nice ultra zoom 8MP camera without going SLR. Now I have a camera built in this century ;)

Randall Donald: Random Debian Stuff

New 169.07 drivers

Nvidia released new drivers yesterday. I have no promises for when I'll get to them given the season and other work I have backed up.

Retirement from the FTP Team

At the beginning of this month I resigned from the ftp team given the lack of work and time I had to dedicate to those duties. I feel privileged to have been a part of an important process in Debian wish the other members well.

Randall Donald: for those of you following along at home...

96.43.01 and 71.86.01 legacy packages have been started but I didn't get them done in time for a weekend release. Sorry about that. The plan is for the next two days.

Randall Donald: 7.3 Compatible Legacy drivers

NVIDIA has released new versions in both the 96xx and 71xx leagacy series. It looks like I have work to do this weekend amongst a visit from my family. The new uploads will go under the pkg-nvidia maintainership and I'm still looking for team members to look after the legacy versions.

Randall Donald: 100.14.19 status

The 100.14.19 driver packages are well on their way to being done. Included are a few bug fixes. I've also changed maintainership over to the Debian NVIDIA packaging team. So this will be the first team release. An upload should be made tomorrow.

Randall Donald: Hiring a Web Designer

I know this post probably won't make it to anybody applicable but the company where I work, Webacom Media Corp. in Nanaimo BC, has an opening for an experienced web designer. Contact me at randy@webacom.com if you are interested.

Randall Donald: 100.14.19

Horray! NVIDIA just released 100.14.19 that is Xorg 7.3 compatible and with a rather big changelog. That should make a couple of Debian users happy. I'll work on packages ASAP. Hopefully legacy versions will be updated soon as well

Randall Donald: Packaging Team Redux

Once again I'm working on furthering the creation of the NVIDIA packaging team. I already have 2 members plus myself but I am seeking people who will help with the ever growing legacy packages. Please email rdonald@debian.org with your interests if you want to help even if in other areas.

Randall Donald: Requirements Engineering for Web Applications

This past week I've been looking at various methodologies for the requirements phase of web application development. I've looked at UWE, NDT, WebML, Design-driven requirements elicitation and OOHDM. My interest in these has been sparked by an opportunity to readdress and better the process at work. My post here is to basically elicit some feedback from others who build web applications for clients in a professional environment and tell me what works for them.

Randall Donald: Time to pay 6% Not paying attention tax

Ok so I goofed a bit and packaged the beta drivers instead of the stable release. I have corrected that with an upload this evening. It seemed that the NVIDIA ftp site hasn't been updated like the website and thus I grabbed 100.14.06 instead of 100.14.09 as it was the most recent.
